Flannel Plaid and Duluth Trading Co.
Did you know plaid is one of the hottest new trends on the runway for fall 2013?
I am excited about it as I enjoy wearing plaid flannels when the temperature drops. Flannel is soft and cozy – always keeping me warm. When Duluth Trading Co. offered me the opportunity to review a flannel, I jumped at the opportunity!
Before writing this blog, I was in the fashion industry where I gave trunk shows, shared designer secrets, focused on fit, gave fashion advice, and most importantly, helped women feel good in their skin.
Clothes help us do that with all of the designer tricks and secrets.
I saw Duluth Trading Co.’s plaid flannels
and immediately wanted to share the news with you.
They’ve done it right…
Let’s take a walk and I’ll show you how.
I am an everyday DIY girl that enjoys the outdoors. Having a jacket when the temperatures drop is a must for my active lifestyle.
Today I am reviewing the Flapjack Flannel Shirt Jac in Dusty Blue Plaid.
I want you to see how it moves, looks, explain how it feels, and show you hidden secrets you can’t see.
When looking at the back of the Flapjack you will see princess seams.
These seams help to create a feminine shape.
Even if you aren’t a perfect “hourglass” shape, princess seams create an illusion that you have a perfect shape under your jacket.
The length of the jacket, in my opinion, flatters every body type by covering the hips.
The hidden underarm gussets and a modern by-swing back allow restriction free reach.
The two side snap tabs
add an unexpected designer detail
which serve a purpose by nipping in the waist and adjust to achieve the perfect fit.
Not only does this soft cotton flannel look great on the outside…
it has some hidden secrets on the inside.
The inside is lined with lofty nylon taffeta that kept me warm on this chilly fall day. The two velcro inside pockets are perfect for storing a smartphone and small wallet. I even used the shammy on the inside shirttail for cleaning my camera lens.
(That really came in handy when I accidentally placed my fingers on the lens – nice one!).
I have been looking for a light jacket that I can throw on at a moments notice.
A jacket that makes me feel good, creates a feminine shape, and keeps me cozy-warm in the process.
I am so glad I found it!
Being a DIY girl doesn’t mean fashion needs to be thrown out the window.
The Duluth Trading Co. creates the perfect pieces for any DIY’er,
adventure seeker, and fashionista.
The Flapjack is available in XS-2XL with several color options.
You can find them here.
While you are there you may want to check out the Crosscut and Free Swingin’ Flannel.
Oh, and maybe the leather bags too!
I want to thank Duluth Trading Company for giving me the opportunity to review the Flapjack Flannel Shirt Jac.
I really, really like it and wanted to share with you…
because you may like it too!
Enjoy!
Angie

You make that jacket look great! Well, it’s a great jacket, but it definitely flatters you. I own one, too 🙂 Haven’t posted about it yet, but you’ve inspired me to CHOP CHOP to it! 🙂

Hey Serena! Thank you! I really appreciate the feminine detailing on it. Now that it’s getting chilly here, it is my “go to” item. I am looking forward to reading your post. 😉
Angie — that jacket looks great! It’s even “my” shade of turquoise. Does it run true to size or big or small. I imagine as a Georgia gal you don’t layer much under it, but if you had a sweater on over the t-shirt, would you still get the same size?
Hi Sharon, I am an XS and this jacket is roomy for me. The website does have a very good sizing chart which I used and it was helpful in determining size. I would definitely stick with this size to layer under as well. I just grabbed a cable knit sweater to layer under it and there was room in the arms and body. The tabs in the back also give the opportunity to nip in, or not, if needed. I would say, purchase true to size after looking at the sizing chart (knowing that you will have extra room for layering). I think it would be a great piece for a Chicago girl. Let me know what you decide to do or if you have any more questions. 🙂
Curious on your height and size trying to order from duluth and not sure on sizing love the flapjack flannel!
Hi Olivia, I am 5’3″ and a size 4. I hope this helps. This is really my “go-to” jacket/flannel. I hope you love it as much as I do! Let me know if I can help with any other questions you may have.
