Score! A Bed Find

Can I just say SCORE!  As you know I am working on my son’s bedroom. His Pottery Barn bunk bed was going to need a new footboard unless we wanted his bed to look like a crib.  NOT!  Originally I thought it would be a full size bed if we take the top bunk off.  Perfect, right?  Um.. no!  The headboard and footboard are the same height.

I couldn’t live with it like that.  It would drive me crazy.  It is killing me because this bed was like a mortgage payment, however, if I found something better I would switch it out.

Well… I did!

Craigslist is my best friend when I find something like this and for forty dollars.

That is so much better than a mortgage payment.

Okay, I know it doesn’t look like much now, but have you seen the iron beds in the Pottery Barn catalog?  Restoration Hardware catalog?  This bed looks close to the beds in the catalogs.  It’s brass, but that doesn’t stop me if I see the look I am going for.

My sweet husband went to pick this up for me an hour away.  He’s so awesome.  He said it was very difficult to fit in the car and took about 20 minutes to get it to work.  It is home now and I couldn’t be happier. 🙂

The weather is going to warm up here this week, so hopefully I will get the chance to start working on it.  I cannot wait to have his room complete so I can move on to another project on my long home project to do list.

I also found panels for the window treatment I am going to use in the room.  Originally I was going to make drop cloth panels, but when I found these I knew it would be perfect.

Especially since my son wants his bedroom really dark in the morning.  He wants to sleep in, and so do I… he is normally up at 6:30/7:30 am – even on weekends!

I found a drapery rod at a nice price too.

Here is a picture of the fabrics and colors I am working with so far.

I will continue to keep you up to date with the room transformation.

More projects are coming soon… they are taking a little longer than anticipated.

Enjoy!
